1stcom's Network Operations Center (NOC) features raised flooring. This enables a constant flow of conditioned air and helps to maintain uniform room temperature at all times. In addition, raised flooring reduces static and ensures a professional, computer-grade environment for your servers.
Finally, the NOC is located in one North Americas largest communications hubs, secure, monitored, class A building with a minimum number of approved personnel allowed access to highly sensitive areas and equipment. A detailed record of employee and visitor entry is maintained at all times.

Uninterruptible Power System
To guard against local power failures, 1stcom has Brand New 160KVA Powerware 9390 UPS Unit (newest model). 400A 3 phase 600v Automatic Transfer Unit, W/wrap-around bypass. UPS has full internal, and external maintenance bypass units, ~225w per sqft power availability
Force Filtered Cooling
All of 1stcom's web servers are equipped with 19" Raised flooring, Perforated, and "Super Perforated" panels to control airflow (~20% floor space perforated) for maximum airflow
2 x 30 ton Chilled Water Liebert HVAC Units (dedicated, both adjacent to load). N+1 HVAC configuration, ~1 ton per 25sqft
Novec1230 (also known as "Sapphire") Synthetic water system. Will not damage equipment, nor people during a discharge. Leaves no residue, and does not conduct electricity. Considerably less ozone depletion then FM200, at a marginal premium.
We keep spare servers on hand ( as well as most parts ) of all CPU configurations. If a server were to experience a hardware failure, we would either repair it or move all the files to a new server depending on what would take the least amount of time.
Connected to Backbones (Network Redundancy)
The NOC, located in Toronto ON, is OnNet with GLBX, and Teleglobe through separate bandwidth-on-demand connections that connect in a Meet Me Room.
Furthermore, because of these unique connections, we do not need to link to the Internet through an OC3 or T3 Telecom circuit. Instead, independent cables run inside our building directly to all carriers' points of presence.
Industry analysis reveals that 70% of downtime of over 10 hours with any ISP is caused by telephone circuit failure. With 1stcom, circuit failure is virtually eliminated. That's because our NOC is in the same building as most carriers servicing North America. There is no phone circuit between us and these providers. Instead, there is a direct connection between our 144 Strand singlemode fiber run directly to building Meet Me Room. T1/Ethernet services provided through Standard Connections. Network topology will be with Cisco Catalyst 6509 Switch/Routers.
Our providers also have peering connections with other major Tier 1 providers that allow traffic to be switched to alternate backbones should the need arise.
